The Principle of Variation

Written by

“Because of accommodation, it is inefficient to use standard exercises or a standard training load over a long period of time. Training programs must vary. At the same time, because of the specificity of training adaptations, the training exercises should be as close as possible to the main sport exercise in muscular coordination and physiological demand. The highest transfer of of training result occurs with the use of sport-specific exercises.” – Zatsiorsky
