Born and raised in New Mexico, Dr. Reena Tenorio, PT is now based in Orange County, CA where she practices physical therapy in an outpatient rehabilitation clinic and trains primarily in Olympic-style weightlifting. Reena is also the co-owner of Kilofornia Barbell in Tustin, CA, promoting the sport of weightlifting to all athlete levels.
Reena graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, and again in 2013 with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. In her current practice, Reena focuses on performance-based rehabilitation. Her treatment approach relies heavily on manual therapy techniques in conjunction with strength training and movement/postural reeducation to help athletes return to their sport and individuals to their former active lifestyles.
In addition to her professional clinical knowledge base, Reena’s diverse athletic history and background gives her a unique perspective on treating the injured athlete, preventing injuries and examining training. She has competed in basketball, volleyball, track and field, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (2010 IBJJF World Championships Bronze medalist), CrossFit (2012 and 2013 CrossFit SouthWest Regionals – team) and currently in Olympic-style weightlifting (2013 & 2014 American Open, 2014 National Championships, 2015 Nationals qualifier).
